Hostess Company Goes Out Of Business

Oh no!  Hostess is going out of business.  That means no more coupons and good deals on our beloved Twinkies!  Because of a workers strike, Hostess is no longer able to keep jobs open for its employees.  This means about 18,500 jobs will be lost.  I will say that I’m not a huge fan of the Hostess junk foods, I’d rather eat my beloved Reese cups for my sugar high.  But, it is very sad to see so many people out a job.

The reasons the workers went on strike was due to a new September contract offer that was to slash wages and benefits.  I guess since the workers went on strike, they knew their jobs were almost over anyway.  If the company needed to drop their pay, the workers must have realized they needed to look for another job.  By going on strike it was one last push of hope to stay at a good pay rate and keep their work position.

So, bye bye Wonder Bread and Ding Dongs.  We will miss you, the sales, and the coupons.
