I usually prefer to freeze seasonal fruits and vegetables. I enjoy having them in the freezer when it is hard to find them fresh in the store or farmers market.

I like to freeze leftover vegetables like corn and green beans and even ham. Then pull out my frozen leftovers in the winter months to make vegetable soup.

I am always freezing foods. I was raised up with a large family and my mother always put veg in the freezer and would can numerous items. I love to can tomatoes, pickles, jellies, and relish. I also love to pick our home grown veg and put them in the freezer. I freeze leftovers and take them out when I get ready to make a pot of soup. I would love to win the Food Saver. I know I could use it.

I love to freeze veg. and a lot of times I buy meats in bulk. The fresh peas, beans and squash are so good during the winter months when you can not get fresh ones.

I chop up a big batch in my food processor… I love doing this because I don’t get tears in my eyes, plus I hardly use a whole bag of onions before they start to turn bad. I put them in freezer bags and freeze them in thin layers so I can break off chunks as needed.

    • rudy - May 07, 2012 @ 12:56 pm

      I freeze my onions too!

Just Kidding. We buy a lot of bulk and being able to freeze things just makes sence for us. We mostly just use zip lock bags and freeze anything from small berries to a pound or two of hamburger.
