Save Money with Homemade Body Wash
When you look at how much stuff costs, it makes your head spin. I knew that buying body wash in the bottle was way more expensive than buying a bar soap but honestly, I hate bar soap. So being a big “Pinner” I found a great recipe for homemade body wash on Pinterest and since it was really easy to make, I gave it a go!
You need:
6 cups water
2 bars of soap
- Put water into a pan on the stove and bring to a boil, then turn down to medium heat. Microwave the bars of soap one at a time for approximately 90 seconds in a microwave-safe container.
- When melted, immediately transfer to pot of water. Continue stirring over medium heat until all the soap is dissolved. You want to make sure every piece of soap is completely dissolved before you transfer it to containers.
- When completely dissolved…transfer to a glass jar or bowl and allow to cool, then pour into a plastic bottle for shower use!
Don’t freak out if it is not the consitency that you are expecting. It will thicken as it cools and will continue to thicken for about 24 hours. If it gets TOO thick…simply add some water until it’s the desired consistency.
I bought a six pack of the Dove Bars for $6.30. ($1.05 each)
I used 2 of the bars at a cost of $2.10 I got one large container of body wash just under 48 ounces. Normally for this much body wash I pay about $9.00 or more when I buy it in the bottles.
