Did you know you can take cheap peppermint candy (or ANY hard candy of any type) and make a platter? It’s amazing and SO EASY! Here’s what you do:

  1. Line a pizza pan with parchment paper.
  2. Open peppermint candies and arrange them in whichever pattern you’d like on the parchment paper.
  3. Bake at 350 for 13-17 minutes.
  4. Pull it off the pizza pan after 2-3 minutes & put it flat on the counter to cool (still on the parchment paper).
  5. Allow to cool fully and pull off the paper. VOILA! Plate made from candy.

I don’t understand how this can be considered a plate when its just melted candy. Are you supposed to coat it with some kind of finish for it to be a plate?

Can you eat this plate after wards. Or do you throw it away or is it a keepsake type plate. Please let me know as soon as possible because if its edible that’s what’s I will make for the kids to eat their dessert off of for Christmas.

  • Ruby Hood - December 08, 2013 @ 12:19 pm

I think the DIY Peppermint Candy Platter idea is just to cute. I just was wondering one thing though…is the plate sticky? I just thought that since it was hard candy maybe it would be!

I tried this in the same pattern as shown on the picture. Ha, I had a Mess everywhere! The candy melted and bubbled up and slattered everywhere in my oven. I only baked it for 13 mins!
Once it was taken out of the oven it was too watery/soupy to even take it off the pizza pan and then when I did take it off to cool more, it shattered into pieces.
I think this is a Fake Recipe! What a waste of time, money, and good candy!

What other candies can be used for this? Also what are the cleaning instructions (dishwasher safe or does need to be hand washed?), and can it be heated in microwave?

I fixed the peppermint plate and it didn’t turn out like the one in picture. Is there anything else I need to know?
