Marsha’s Lasagna

By Extreme Couponing Rudy on March 2nd, 2012

This is a yummy recipe straight from Marsha’s kitchen!

Ingredients

1 lb. Mild Italian sausage or ground beef (I use 1 1/2lbs. ground chuck extra lean)

1 32 oz. jar spaghetti sauce (I use Ragu 45 oz. thick and chunky tomato, onion, & garlic-or flavor of your choice)

1 cup of water

1 15 oz. carton ricotta cheese

2 table spoons of chopped fresh chives (I use dried chives)

1/2 teaspoon oregano leaves

1 egg

1 8 oz. box uncooked lasagna noodles

1 16oz packaged sliced mozzarella cheese (I use 16 oz shredded)

2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese (I don’t measure this- I generously sprinkle from the shaker)

Directions

In a large skillet, brown sausage/ground beef; drain well.  (I don’t drain my extra lean ground chuck)  Add spaghetti sauce and water.  Blend well.  Simmer for five minutes.

In a medium bowl combine ricotta, chives, oregano, and egg; mix well.

In ungreased 13×9 inch baking dish or lasagna pan, spread 1 1/2 cups of meat sauce.  Next add 1/2 of uncooked noodles, 1/2 of the ricotta cheese mixture and 1/2 of the mozzarella cheese.  Repeat layers, top with remaining meat sauce.  Sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Heat oven to 350 degrees.  Uncover baking dish.  Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until noodles are tender and casserole is bubbly.  Let stand 15 minutes before serving.

Thanks, Marsha!
