‘Extreme Couponer’ Gets Attacked By Store Manager
Apparently not everyone is happy for people who can save money. A Dollar Tree Manager in Germantown Tennessee not only refused to take a woman’s coupons, but beat her down as she left the store. What makes it worse, is that the couponers friend caught it on camera! Yikes!
As a couponer myself, I know there are times when the cashier might not be so friendly. Shoot, there are times when a cashier goes out of their way to be rude and unhelpful. But, my motto is and will always be the same. Kill them with kindness. If you can stick to this method while couponing, you will run into a lot less issues. If a cashier is rude, DON’T be rude back! One, I have always shared with others to only pick a cashier with a smile on their face. If they don’t have that, move on to the next one.
Ways to avoid problems at the register
1. Coupon the right way. Don’t try to use expired coupons or coupons that are intended for another product. Even if you get the nicest cashier in the world, you are putting them in a hard spot to be in if you try to use coupons incorrectly. Don’t ever ask a cashier to use a coupon the wrong way. Period.
2. Be nice. If you are nice to them, chances are they will be nice back. Watch your tone. Don’t speak to them like a ‘know it all’. If they don’t understand something, explain it to them in a teaching way, not a ‘ha ha your stupid’ way. I have been in many situations where my cashiers did not want to take my coupons. Instead of being rude with them, I asked them why they didn’t want to take them. It sounds funny, but when I asked the obvious question, it triggered in their mind that there was no legit reason not to take my coupons. Then, we able to have a normal conversation! Of course I always try to convert my cashiers to use coupons. It’s the smart way to shop.
3. Share. That’s right, share. Share your coupons, share your FREEBIES. Whatever you have extra that you can share, share it with your cashier. Sometimes I simply hand over an awesome coupon for my cashier. This way they don’t feel like you’re the only one getting the good deals. It shows them that they can do it too! Get the product, use the coupon. Wow, they never knew it was that easy!
Of course we don’t know the entire story of the manager who attacked the couponer in the store. Nothing excuses someone from beating down another person over coupons. It’s laughable and sad at the same time. If you are ever in a situation like this, all I can recommend to do is walk away. If you were trying to use your coupons the right way, send a friendly e-mail over to Corporate. They always handle the situation.
