Angry Birds Birthday Party Day 1: Invitations
Angry Birds Birthday Party
Okay, I have something FUN for you guys! This year was quite a busy one with several different events going on at once. Launa and Logan’s birthdays are less than a month apart so we decided to have a joint party for them with all their friends this year. As we were brainstorming theme ideas, Logan was playing Angry Birds on my phone. That’s how they decided an Angry Birds birthday party would be FUN. I’m so glad they agreed on one without a fight! I quickly got to work planning all the FUN stuff for the party. I am happy to say that I took A LOT of pictures s I could share the party with you and show you step by step instructions on how I planned the party.
Join me over the next several days as I post the steps to creating your own Angry Birds Birthday Party!
Angry Birds Birthday Party Day 1: Invitations
The first thing you need for any party are invitations. Of course, I am going to show you the frugal way! These were totally FREE for me since everything I used I already had on hand.
I used my Cricuit and the George and Basic Shapes Cricuit Cartridge. Everything I needed was on this one cartridge.
You will need to cut out 7 different shapes to complete the Red Angry Bird. The first is the red circle of course for the body.
The second shape is a black flower for the Red Angry Bird’s tail. You only need to cut out half as many flowers as there are invitations. The reason being is because once they are cut from the Cricuit, you will cut them all in half as shown above.
The third shape is a black trapezoid for the ‘angry’ eye brows. You need to cut twice as many of these since there are two for every invitation. The fourth shape is a small white circle for the eyes. You will also need twice as many of these circles since there are two on every invitation.
The fifth shape will be for the mouth. There are two different options. The first is pictured on the left where I printed a heart and cut it in half for the beak. The second option is pictured on the right where I just cut a plain triangle. Either option will work.
The sixth and final shape is a red flower. It’s the same flower font as from the black tail, just as inch smaller. Once again you will be cutting the flowers in half to use them as the head feathers.
Technically the Red Angry Bird has the white belly. But when I played with that option I didn’t like it too much. You can of course add it if you want. The last detail on the angry bird are the black dots on the eyes. I starting cutting out all these tiny black circles, and then about halfway through I realized it would be more productive to just color them in with a Sharpie!
The last part of the Angry Birds Birthday invitation is the invitation of course! Just print out all the party info in a word document and once they are printed out you can cut them in a circle. Then simply glue the details to the back the cute angry birds you have already made! And there you have it, a very unique, very frugal, Angry Birds Birthday Party Invitation!
Stay tuned for Day 2! Will be posted tomorrow!
Weekly Walmart Trip 11/7
I had a great trip this morning! I love shopping early because then I don’t worry about the people behind me. I forgot to check the Halloween section for clearance prices, but they did have a few items in the baby department. The onesies and pajamas hanging up were $0.80 each! There is also one Dr. Pepper missing from the picture because I handed it over to the cashier. Of course I had to pick the line with a new cashier being trained. I didn’t realize it until it was too late to back out. I was afraid I was putting too much on her plate by price matching, but by the end of it I was glad I went to her line. I kinda broke her in so to say! She did a great job and so did her trainer! Thanks!
Subtotal Before Price Matching & Coupons $249.84

Walmart Coupon Policy Change
Walmart Coupon Policy
There has been a lot of chatter lately about the Walmart Coupon Policy. Have they changed their policy? Do they still accept internet printable coupon? Is it now necessary to bring in your ad to price match? Can you price match and use a coupon on the same item? So, many more questions, but to make this short and hopefully answer them all, Paul over at I Heart The Mart wrote a great article that I want you to take a look at.
One of the problems that Walmart is facing is FRAUD. That is why it is so important to be honest in all your dealings, and follow ALL the rules! No making copies of coupons, no price matching stores that they do not accept a competitor, not lying about prices, and so on. When you do these things, it makes it harder for stores and cashiers to believe any couponer, even the most honest ones! It also makes them tighten up when dealing with coupons and price matching.
If you don’t have any other stores to shop at, then you should be thankful for the Walmart Coupon Policy. It is actually a great policy, and you can save a lot of money by using it the right way. Now, with saying that, I know that not all of the cashiers are the friendliest people to interact with. But, not everybody in life is! You just have to deal with it. As I mention in all my classes, when cashier profiling you need to look for one thing in a cashier. A SMILE. Nothing else. If they do not already have a smile on their face, then pick another checkout lane!
